  1. Add an entry

    Record a shift or an expense in a few taps, and photograph the receipt there and then. Or just email it in (see below).

  2. Let it read the receipt

    Receipt scanning (in early access) suggests the date, amount, VAT and category. You check it and save it. Nothing is saved without you.

  3. Export for your accountant

    Download a summary by category and month, a CSV of every entry, and your receipts, ready for your tax return.

    Every subscriber gets a private email address. Forward a receipt, invoice or booking confirmation to it, as an attachment or just the email itself, and it is read for you and waits in your Inbox to check and save. Nothing is saved without you.

  • Your own periods

    Create the periods you report on, usually the UK tax year from 6 April to 5 April, and see totals for each one.

  • Several workplaces

    Tag income and expenses to the hospital, practice or client they belong to, then filter and export by each.

  • Receipts on your phone

    Snap a receipt as you go. It is stored privately against the entry, ready when you need it.

  • Paid in another currency?

    Record the original amount and we suggest that day's exchange rate. You keep both figures, and can change either.

  • Clear exports

    A summary workbook by category and month, with categories grouped under Self Assessment headings as a guide.

Your records stay yours

Your entries and receipts are private to your account. You can download everything, or delete your account, whenever you like. Locum Tally is not designed for patient information, so please keep that out of descriptions, notes and receipts. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Questions

Is Locum Tally tax advice?

No. It is a record-keeping tool that adds up what you enter. It does not give tax, accounting or legal advice, so check with an accountant or HMRC before relying on any figure.

Which tax year does it use?

You create the periods you report on. The suggestion is the current UK tax year (6 April to 5 April), and you can use other dates if your accountant prefers them.

How does receipt scanning work?

You photograph a receipt and an AI service suggests the date, amount, VAT and category. You always check and save the entry yourself. Receipt scanning is in early access, and we ask you to keep patient information out of receipts.

Can I email receipts in?

Yes, on a subscription. You get your own private email address, shown on your dashboard. Forward or send a receipt, invoice or booking confirmation to it, as an attachment (PDF or photo) or as the body of the email itself. It is read for you and waits in your Inbox, where you check the details and save it as an entry. Nothing is saved without you, and the address is yours alone, so you can turn it off or replace it at any time.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in your phone's browser, you can add it to your home screen, and the camera button takes a receipt photo straight into an entry.

What does it cost?

Locum Tally is free for 6 months, including 20 free receipt scans. After that, your records stay available to view and export, and a monthly subscription (A simple monthly price) lets you keep adding entries and scan up to 100 receipts a month. You can cancel at any time, and your records always stay yours to export.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Download a spreadsheet summary, a CSV of every entry, your receipts as a zip, or all your data as a file, and delete your account at any time.
